Golden Ring Bowl

I wanted a little bowl to put my jewelry into last thing at night.

I’m a big fan of Sculpey: turns out it’s super easy to use. I rolled out a bit of brown sculpey & cut it into a rough circle. Then I pushed it a little way into a small pot, to get it to form a bowl shape, and left it to sort of half-set . . .

Once it was able to stay in that shape unaided, I popped it in the oven, at 275 degrees for about 5 minutes. Once it had cooled, I painted the inside with Testors’ gold model paint. This has got to be the best stuff in the world: a small bottle is less than $2.

Once the paint had dried, I Mod Podged the brown bottom half to seal it. I wanted a slightly grainy texture so I used Mod Podge rather than traditional sculpey glaze. (By the way, am the only person that was convinced it was called Modge-Podge for the longest time?)

That’s it. The gold makes me feel a little bit lux last thing at night. . . and who doesn’t enjoy a bit of that?

Love, Em.
