As you may have already picked up on, I’m always keen for getting submissions from people: I love to see I’m not alone in this world of “Crafts not turning out quite the way I’d hoped. . .”
When I got this submission in from Matt W,, I at first was not at all impressed. He sent me this:
Well. I wrote back & said ‘Thanks, but this isn’t even remotely crap. It’s no good to me at all.’
Frankly, I thought he was just showing off.
Turns out Matt W. persists in his point-making as well as in his knitting. He responded, having this to say:
“This is an example of crap in context. I posted on Facebook the picture of the hat by itself. My second attempt at a hat. Because people think knitting is some sort of mysterious art, they all raved about it. Also, the manly ‘Punisher Skull’ added street cred. However, I knitted the damn thing to FIT MY EFFING HEAD. With the second picture, it certainly shows things in a clearer light. Am I getting better? Yes. Is this hat crap? Possibly.”
This is what he attached the second time . . .
. . . and . . .
Ok, Matt: you win. That hat is indeed worthy of a trophy from Crap-At-Crafts. All you have to do is send me your postal address & let me know whether you favor a bird or a snail for your victors prize; after that, your work is done. You may have a little rest if you like. Or not . . .
As today’s post shows, inspiration is always just around the corner. For the rest of us, we must all keep crafting.
Love, Em.

See, I still don’t think that’s crap. He can just roll up the brim.
What those pictures don’t show is that its not just too long, it is huge and bunchy all over. Simply rolling up the brim will not fix THAT problem!
